Water Quality

In our research we focus on fate, transformations and environmental impact of natural organic matter (NOM), like humic substances, as well as on anthropogenic micropollutants (pharmaceuticals, pesticides) in various aquatic systems. By applying advanced analytical methods, we conduct our experiments in surface waters and wastewater, both in laboratory conditions and field studies.

The current main focus is the investigation of ecotoxicological impact of water contaminants, through spread of antibiotic resistance genes in natural environment, but also characterization of the composition and changes in the DOC (dissolved organic carbon) in wastewater treatment.
