Description

Removal of Natural Organic Matter (NOM) from Ground and Surface Water by Membrane Separation
(NOM-Membran)

Because of their potential to form disinfection by products (DBP´s), natural organic substances, e.g. humic substances, have to be removed from drinking water. Within this project which is sponsored by the Deutscher Verein des Gas- und Wasserfaches (DVGW, German Association of the Gas and Water Companies), different raw waters are treated by nanofiltration. Among others, the formation of fouling layers on the membranes is investigated. In addition, the permeate is characterized, e.g. the bacterial regrowth after ozonation of the permeate.
