Content

  • Water cycle, different types of raw water (ground and surface water); physico – chemical properties.
  • Water constituents and characterization: water as solvent, lime/carbonic acid equilibrium.
  • Water technology, unit operations: sieving, sedimentation, filtration, flocculation, flotation, adsorption, ion exchange, gas liquid transfer, deacidification, softening, oxidation, disinfection.
For all unit operations design parameters will be provided. Simple 1D models will be discussed for description of kinetics and retention time in reactors for water treatment.
